The City of Surrey had future development plans for the property and thus excluded any other developer option for us. We had numerous periods of negotiations with the City of Surrey, over a period of close to 25 years, with no serious offers made by the City, except a threat of expropriation. I have known Sukh Johal since 2015. He was selected by myself, the directors and shareholders of Camino Farms Inc. to provide services to market and sell one of our asset, a 35 acre property we have owned since 1980 in the Township of Langley.
Sukh had met with myself and my business partners in 2015 and presented his credentials to us as a real estate agent including a comparative market analysis for our property. We were impressed with Sukh and believed he had the skill set to be an asset to our organization so we decided to hire him as our agent.
Since then, I have tasked Sukh to be our agent in leading a development application for our property. Since this property is in the Agricultural Land Reserve, it must be put through the development process with not only the Township of Langley but the Agricultural Land Commission. Sukh has spearheaded this process and has collaborated with staff from the Township of Langley and ALC.
He has interviewed and surveyed many landowners, collaborated with engineers and consulted with organizations. He has organized and facilitated meetings on behalf of Camino Farms Inc. with city staff, community planners and engaged elected officials in the Township of Langley. Sukh engaged with the ALC, it’s commissioners and staff to organize and conduct a site visit. Through all of his work and research, he has written and authored a detailed supplementary report which he prepared for Camino Farms Inc. that was submitted to the ALC for our development application file and site visit.
